Chapter Sixteen

TYRA

I was on pins and needles trying to make sure everything was perfect for Brian and I. Since I owed him big time for our Valentine's Day dinner I ruined, I went out of my way and booked a suite at a hotel in Center City. After doing my research, I took the time to decorate it myself. Luckily for me all the Valentine’s Day decorations were on sale and still in stock. The hotel suite was beautifully decorated with real rose petals on the floor, and white, red, and pink balloons floating to the ceiling. I even found an idea on social media and tied roses to some of the balloons.

The smell of the food being prepared by a chef I hired wafted through the air as I put the finishing touches on my makeup. I was a ball of nerves, so I had a glass of wine helping me calm down. When there was a knock at the door, I gave myself one more glance through the mirror and adjusted the bandage dress before I went to answer it.

“Hey,” I said, smiling wide at him dressed in his work uniform. “For a second I thought you weren’t going to come.”

“I wouldn't leave you hanging. It's not like I had anything planned.”

“I’m happy.”

Brian eyed me, catching his bottom lip between his teeth. “What do you have planned?”

Stepping aside, I extended my arm so he could see for himself. When he stepped in, I shut the door behind him then led the way up the path of tealight candles to the open concept of the apartment-style suite.

It cost me a few dollars to get something so nice in it, but it was worth it. The size of the suite made everything come together beautifully.

“It smells good in here. You cooked?”

“Absolutely not. I hired a chef so we can have dinner together.”

Always being a gentleman, Brian pulled my chair from the table so I could sit before he did. The Chef started off dinner with mini crab cakes, followed by lollipop lamb, lemon butter broccoli, parmesan asparagus, garlic mashed potatoes, and three-cheese macaroni with sweet yams. By the time we got to dessert, we were stuffed but still enjoyed a bit of the mini red velvet bundt cake that was glazed with a creamy cream cheese icing.

Allowing our food to digest, we sipped on some wine and got caught up on our day. The chef washed the dishes, packed up his belongings, and left, giving us a little more privacy.

“Thank you. I really appreciate this. I never had a woman that went out of her way for me.”

My brows rose to my baby hairs. “Really?”

“Nah… we would’ve had a first together a couple weeks ago.”

“I’m sorry about that,” I apologized again.

“It’s all good. We got it now.” Brian leaned over and kissed me. “What’s next?” he inquired.

“I will run you a bath… then in an hour, we will have people coming up to give us couples massages. After that, we will relax.
